how Italians eat tomatoes

Facebook is currently in the midst of a meme storm. Namely, an Italian meme storm, featuring the one and only hand gesture (which I personally believe should be made into an emoji) that encapsulates so well the (apparently) the Italian language, culture, and supposedly the way they pet their dogs. Having just returned from Italy on exchange, I #canconfirm the legitimacy of this meme. What a time to be alive. 

In other Italian news, Northcote's All Nations Park is currently hosting the Melbourne Tomato Festival, dedicated primarily to all things tomato, but also other Italian treats (think gelato and bomboloni and holy moly, CANNOLI!!). Complete with a tomato sauce making competition, grape-stamping and cooking master classes from the likes of Karen Martini and Guy Grossi, the last of Melbourne's sunny weather makes the perfect day for it. 

It goes until 6 so get down there now for a lovely Sunday arvo food fest.
