Sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty!

Yesterday I entered the magical world of Matilda the Musical, which had Princess Theatre transformed into a life-size game of Scrabble, the all-too-real fear of Trunchbull’s spikey chokey and the angelic sound of Matilda’s gang of revolting (slash angelic and extremely talented) classmates. As I walked out of the theatre I had a couple of thoughts swanning around in my alphabet-filled mind:
These kids are super-humans from Mars.
Tim Minchin, Dennis Kelly and all of the team are geniuses who come from another planet
The whole musical is pretty much other-worldly
Everyone should get themselves onto http://www.ticketmaster.com.au/Matilda-the-Musical-tickets/artist/1601714 right now and buy tickets ASAP
I’d listened to my friends raving about Matilda for a couple of months, rekindling distant memories of a runaway newt and a chocolate cake as tall as my bedside table. The magic and mystery of Roald Dahl’s iconic novels is intended for children, but the beauty in the writing touches all ages. Thus, a theatre adaptation comes with high expectations. Tim Minchin’s adaptation brings along the excitement of the story, in 3D, in front of our very eyes. The authenticity of the children’s stage-work, the clever and contemporary humour weaved throughout the songs and script, and the seamless nature of the intricate set working with the choreography is absolutely outstanding. The collective production is so exciting, and so much fun, that if anything went awry, it wouldn’t matter in the least.
Matilda is a classic story which our youngest grow up with, instilling the value of confidence, of learning and most of all, of kindness and love. Matilda the Musical brings all these values to the fore and absolutely does justice to Dahl’s timeless tale of a special little girl who knew the power of words and of courage. It certainly goes by Matilda’s mantra “Never do anything by halves if you want to get away with it. Be outrageous. Go the whole hog. Make sure everything you do is so completely crazy it's unbelievable.”
