Today, I started work experience at Carla Zampatti head office in Sydney. Now celebrating 50 years, the sheer experience in the unique Australia fashion industry which the company has is incredible. And year after year, Zampatti doesn’t disappoint. I am always amazed by the classic, beautiful garments which come are produced.
Every season is different in colour, texture and theme, but there always remains the common element of luxury and elegance. I am proud to call Carla Zampatti Australian. That is why I chose to apply for a work experience placement here, and this morning, all the anticipation which had built up over the year came to fruition. So far, it’s definitely been worth it.
In Sydney, every street looks gorgeous. The buildings are tall, but preserve the history of the city. The Kent St office is externally grand, and internally everything I expected it to be; high ceilings, bright lights, a modern eclectic feel and walls filled with all sorts of framed old Carla campaigns. Glamorous. I started in the despatch office and almost died when I walked in - an entire basement of garments on racks. I just wanted to run through the whole room and scream. I got to deliver and collect garments from David Jones, the Westfield store and was extremely excited to deliver and collect from the Harper’s Bazaar building. Talk about star struck.
For the rest of the day, I worked on my arm muscles sticking barcodes and doing quality checks. It was amazing to see all the behind the scenes work and people that go into such a large scale production company in a place as amazing as Sydney. I just cannot wait to see what I might get to do tomorrow. This has been my first sort of diary post on the blog. The whole of this week I will continue to have this lifestyle focus. When I get back to good old Melbourne with my nice camera I will be able to shoot all of the outfits I post on here properly, so never fear, the fashion/outfit element will be back all too soon. Hope you enjoy! Don’t forget that you can drop me an email anytime for any suggestions or to have a chat! (thewunderblog@outlook.com).
Love, Ingrid
