“The only love that I really believe in is a mother’s love for her children”
- Karl Lagerfeld
Every year, as I rack my brains for ideas to celebrate Mothers’ Day, I realise a little bit more just how significant my mother is in my life. She is my foundation, always there for me to talk to and laugh with and cuddle. She never stops thinking about how she can benefit her children and how she can make us happier. So today, we celebrate, to acknowledge the stress, the driving, the shouting, the organising and everything else that comes with the word ‘mother’. And that’s a whole lot of stuff.
I started off the morning with a frantic pancake making session with my brother, which resulted in a whole pile of circular, black, pungent ‘pancakes’ next to the sink. Luckily, we managed to salvage enough pancakes to make a gorgeous breakfast. A pancake stack served with bananas, berry compote, honey, smashed hazelnuts and shredded coconut.

Next up was my gift, which I had struggled to keep a secret for two weeks prior. My mum, just like any other woman on the planet, wakes up every morning and struggles to find that perfect outfit, despite the fact that her wardrobe is packed to the rafters with clothes. However, I recently noticed a lack of a wardrobe essential in her collection. Basics!
I decided to set this right, and bought her a stunningly simple white tee from Swedish fashion powerhouse ACNE. Definitely worth the money; it is perfectly cut and not at all see through, not to mention the luscious pink shopping bag; I am keeping that baby-pink bombshell in my room.

But, I didn’t stop there. Mum’s always had a thing against basic tees; something about a ‘too-casual’ vibe. Boy, was she wrong. I spent some styling some outfits for her to set her on her way.
5 ways to style | The basic white tee

Edgy is one word I could use to describe this set. With minimal effort and a small colour palette, this look works for day, night and everything in between.
Rag & Bone denim jacket, Topshop jeans, Michael Kors bag, Gucci heels

A whimsical daytime look to conquer spring in. Stripes on denim is definitely my thing.
Lucluc striped blazer, One Teaspoon ripped boyfriend jeans, Dior Addict Lip Glow, H&M loafers

This might be my favourite look. The stark contrast between the shock of orange and rich black is startling, but gorgeous. It is such a chic outfit, designed to be bold and strong.
Versace shorts and necklace, Saint Laurent boots and sunglasses, Dorothy Perkins hat, NARS Geraldine Audacious lipstick

It seems that neutrals are in this season. Limited to white and beige, this set is warm, relaxed and cosy.
Paige Denim jeans, Stylemoi coat, MiuMiu loafers, Whistles clutch, Valentino sunglasses

If someone walked past me in this outfit, I would wish to be walking with them. The epitome of elegance and a sleek chic vibe, this set has everything you need to look the part of power.
Senso heels, Cartier bangle, Prada bag, New Look blazer, Haider Ackermann silk trousers
Today, mum’s the word. Have a happy day everybody!
Love,
Ingrid
