more sheer goodness

This morning, the Easter bunny greeted me with an Easter egg hunt, triple chocolate hot cross buns and a pile of falling leaves to play around with. Safe to say that I had a pretty good time of it all.
This is yet another example of my love of sheer. There is just a certain beauty in the filtered skin seen through the eyes of mesh, the transparent mystery of the fabric. Worn the right way, it is edgy and elegant, giving the wearer instant ‘pazazz’. Today, I’m wearing a beautiful slip-on piece by the trusty Shakuhachi, with some beautiful embroidery out front and full sheer goodness out back. I tend to just pair sheer with simple undergarments or an inconspicuous cami; the point of sheer is sheer, so anything which would take the attention away from the effect is a no-go; stay away from the colours or the thick straps.
Now, I know that I never cease talking about all the personalities and different characters which can be made using one piece, and I really don’t think that I’m ever going to stop, because that’s the only way I get more wear out of everything I buy. I think that it’s really important to be open-minded about pairing clothes. Just try everything on and see how it looks, because you never know what gems will come out of it. Here, I’ve got one fun, bright outfit, and one more conservative, classy do.
The overlap of the sheer black and the intricately patterned skirt is one of my favourite parts of this outfit. The bright, complex skirt perfectly draws out the simplicity of the top, and the embroidery in both garments bring them together. It is perfect to dance around in.
In contrast, the black on black of the top paired with some basic black jeans is beguiling. At first glance, I would think ‘fashion student’ or ‘tres chic’ or something edgy and impressive like that. As you can see, sometimes it is just the simple paired with the simple that comes together to create something beautiful. The silhouette, the line of the body, the confidence that emanates from this outfit is unstoppable. With this outfit, and my Sentence a Day book by Kikki.K (I need to organise myself somewhere), I feel ready to take on the world.
What I’m really trying to stress is that just spending that fraction more time in the morning with constructing an outfit can make all the difference. Mix and match your basics with that garment that’s been sitting in your wardrobe since you bought it. The options are endless.
Enjoy your chocolate everyone!
