lost and found

Sometimes I get very confused about my own sense of style. I tend to like so many different things with different vibes that I really struggle to get dressed in the morning; a lot of the time, I end up in jeans and a t-shirt (don’t get me wrong, when done right, jeans and a t-shirt can be a killer combination) after at least half an hour of staring at my clothes while wearing a nightie, hyperventilating. It happens to the best of us.

Today, however, I woke up, rolled out of bed and just knew what I was going to wear. This jumper is my absolute favourite at the moment, which makes no sense whatsoever because it is in fact the middle of summer in Australia. I paid for my choice of top as soon as I started walking under the sun in a packed city, but beauty is pain.

The reason for my peace of mind regarding my outfit choice this morning lies in the story behind my jumper. I bought it at the end of 2014, wore it a couple of times, put it in the washing basket, then promptly forgot about its existence until I reached for it at the start of 2015 and found it had vanished. Nothing brought it back; reliving the last time I wore it, searching around the whole house and looking under couches all proved fruitless. I finally settled for the explanation that some guest some time had accidentally taken it home.

It all changed two mornings ago when I went to my grandma’s room to have a chat and saw a flash of pink out of the corner of my eye. I sprinted across the room and lo and behold, I was holding my soft, baby pink, adorable, warm, fuzzy, beautiful jumper in my hands. And so as soon as the weather report announced the temperature would be dropping to less than 30 degrees Celsius (ha. What a drastic cool change), I had to wear my returned baby (pink) out.

This outfit seems to me so simple, yet so classic. These shorts are hand me downs of my mum’s and the white linen, the mid-thigh length and the high waist elongate the body so well. It’s literally a jumper tucked into some shorts; it looks natural, it looks comfortable and hence it radiates a sense of style and relaxation. I feel like it has a bit of an old school preppy vibe. And it’s also pink.

So I’ve just spent a blog post boring you all about a jumper and how I lost it then found it; I think the heat is getting to me.

Love, Ingrid
