Although wearing black on a 27 degree day in Bali may have been a mistake, exploring this beautiful place most definitely wasn’t.

The Balinese culture is absolutely incredible; the people were always ready to give a smile and tell us a story or two. Delving below the surface of picture perfect beaches, westernised Seminyak streets and luxury beach clubs (Potato club is insane!), we headed inland to do some sightseeing and find out more about the people and the culture behind the lush green rice fields.

This black jumpsuit, scored at a night market in Sanur, got me through the day trip in comfort and style. I love the contrast between the angular neckline and the flowy draping of the lower half. It is so simple in its design and cut, but creates an illusion of complexity; it is always moving, creating ripples in the fabric. I think a Saltwater sandal appreciation sentence is also necessary; these shoes should be worth a gold mine. I’ve had them for two years and they’re still as good as new, and so comfortable to walk around in.

So now I know that the Bali Bible was not created for the express purpose of an underwhelming beach holiday. Bali really has so much substance as an island and so many places to explore. In the photos above, the locations pictured are:

  • Mt Batur - An active volcano, one of three in Bali. It is breathtaking from a distance, or can be climbed in a couple of hours.

  • Ubud market - Ubud is an amazing town filled with places to eat, see and appreciate. The market was such a gorgeous corner to walk around in. The Monkey Forest is also a must! Some of the photos are also from the King’s Palace.

I found myself thinking that 8 nights was far too short a stay in Bali; don’t underestimate the amount of beauty and places to be seen!

Love, Ingrid
